Europe is aging – and so is the Czech Republic. There are more and more people over 65 who want to live actively, have a meaningful day and feel good about themselves. The Ageing Well project, supported by the Erasmus+ program, brings a new wave of inspiration and concrete tools to achieve this. And it's completely free – thanks to materials available online, including the Positive Ageing Handbook.

What is the Ageing Well project about?

Ageing Well connects experts from across Europe to explore ways to support the mental and physical well-being of seniors , education in later life and the resilience of carers. The result is a comprehensive set of activities, exercises and reflections for seniors, carers and educators.

The Positive Aging Handbook helps develop self-confidence, relationships, and a sense of life satisfaction – what science calls active aging .

Why is this topic important for us in the Czech Republic?

In the Czech Republic, there is often talk about caring for the elderly, but less about how to support their vitality, self-confidence and desire to learn new things . Yet learning, exercise and social contact are the keys to happy aging.

The Positive Aging Guide offers simple steps that anyone can take:

  • For seniors – try a new activity, go for a walk, call a friend, write a gratitude journal.

  • For caregivers – find time for yourself, share experiences, use recommendations from module 5.

  • For trainers and organizations – include activities from the guide in training courses or community meetings.

Small step, big change

The Ageing Well project shows that active aging is not a luxury, but a natural part of life . Just get started – open the first module, try one exercise and bring inspiration to your surroundings.
